Practice

Nick specialises in criminal work, both for the prosecution and the defence. He is a CPS Grade 3 prosecutor, with a particular interest in fraud and accounting cases.  He has defended in a number of substantial cases, including serious rapes, armed robberies, drugs conspiracies and child abduction cases. He appears regularly in the Court of Appeal, and has conducted a number of cases in the Divisional Court. His cases in the Crown Court have included the prosecutions of a three-handed fraud involving £1/3m and of an accountant who had embezzled substantial funds from his employers. He has acted as junior in prosecutions for murder and racketeering, and in defence of an electricity board official charged with manslaughter by gross negligence. He has a good working knowledge of computers which he has deployed to effect in cases concerning hi-tech crime.

He also undertakes regulatory work in the areas of trading standards and Health & Safety.

Nick places emphasis on meticulous case preparation at an early stage, attention to detail, and continuity of representation wherever possible. A particular strength is the conduct of cases involving large volumes of documentary evidence
