Practice
His practice is divided between civil and criminal work.
His civil practice centres on commercial contract. He has experience of judicial review, appeal by way of case stated, proceeds of crime/recovery of assets and local government law. He has also been instructed in a number of clinical negligence and personal injury actions. He has a special interest in and experience of inquests, in particular those involving breaches of health & safety legislation or the police, in which he has represented a variety of interested parties.
In the criminal sphere he specialises in cases involving commercial fraud and regulatory crime, accepting instructions on behalf of both prosecution and defence. He seeks to balance his practice between defence and prosecution work and has considerable experience in all criminal tribunals. His systematic approach to litigation has as its cornerstone thorough preparation and pro-active case management. He prides himself on a meticulous attention to detail, which is essential in heavy paper-based cases or those involving complex issues of law and fact. He is on the Attorney General's Panel of Prosecuting Advocates List A and has had Crown Prosecution Service Grade 4 categorisation for many years. He is also instructed by the CPS Headquarters Casework Fraud Division. In addition he undertakes work on behalf of the police, for local authorities, both county and district, as well as private clients, with particular emphasis on environmental protection, trading standards, breaches of planning control, food hygiene, licensing, animal health and health and safety.
